Are Economic Growth Pressures Inhibiting Green Total Factor Productivity Growth?

The purpose of this study is to reveal the impact economic-growth pressure on green total factor productivity (GTFP) provide a reference for promoting development in China. Based objective-management perspective, paper takes panel data 249 cities China from 2006 2019 as sample, using directional distance function and Malmquist–Luenberger Productivity Index measure GTFP, then dual fixed-effect model empirically analyze intrinsic mechanism GTFP. results show that (1) significantly inhibits GTFP has significant inhibitory effect both green-technology progress efficiency. However, marginal negative stronger. (2) inhibition characterized by heterogeneity economic-growth-pressure intensity, economic-development degree, marketization level. greater higher lower level, stronger progress, (3) economic growth patent innovation inventions hinders improvement technological innovation, leading stagnation or retreat obstruction improvement. research conclusion certain theoretical practical significance. findings study, suggestions via targets are given three aspects: reforming promotion-assessment system officials, rationalizing setting targets, green-invention–patent-innovation-driven development.
